Judy Pace was one of the most gorgeous young actresses of ’60s cinema, but this black beauty who was sometimes called “black Barbie” by the media didn’t let herself get stuck in any kind of genre. After debuting in a schlock-horror classic as one of 13 Frightened Girls (1963), Judy appeared in upscale classic films such as The Fortune Cookie (1966) and The Thomas Crown Affair (1968), as well as on every hit sixties TV show from Batman and Bewitched to Tarzan and Mod Squad. Her sexy presence was put to good use on the soap Peyton Place, where she played the first black villainess on mainstream television. She was unforgettable in Three in the Attic (1968), where she was part of a trio of cuckolded cuties who locked up their cheating boyfriend so they could drain him of his manhood. Hopefully he kept his piece, since when that fine piece of ass named Judy finally decided to do blaxploitation, she chose the classic Cotton Comes to Harlem (1970) to show some classic nudity. While taunting a white cop, she slips out of her chainmail dress, shows her butt and boobs and asks the officer “gonna take a shower with me whiteboy? Hmm?” After he panics and just stands there like an idiot, she gets out naked and wet, and lets him wrap her in a towel. She must want to bonk a honkey, since she eventually gets into bed and asks him to join her for a little 5-oh! oh! oh!. That’s how you improve black and blue relations! She provided the jerking aspect as Gale Sayers‘ wife in the tearjerker Brian’s Song (1971), but chose motherhood rather than a steady acting career, appearing in sporadic episodes of Good Times, What’s Happening and Ironside in the eighties while raising the kids she had with that show’s star, Don Mitchell, though the two eventually divorced and Judy married “free agency” inventor and MLB star Curt Flood. Most recently appearing in Beauty and the Baller in 2017, Judy is known for her black sexcellence, although it’s a shame she never kept up the skinematic pace she set in Cotton Comes to Harlem.
